Dear Frantic Teacher – You are Enough
Dear Frantic Teacher,
Has anyone told you lately that you are enough? Just as you are? Whether today was a good day or a bad one, you are enough. It’s that time of year in teaching where we all doubt our abilities. Have we done enough for our students? Did I miss a standard that is important? Did I prepare my students enough for the state assessment? Will I be moved to a new grade level? Fear, anxiety, and self-doubt run rampant through the hallways of all schools when spring comes near. I just want to reassure you of a few things.
Did you hug a student today? That was enough to make that student feel safe and secure. You made that child feel like they are more important than the state test. Keep doing that! Try your best to make a child feel this way each day the next few months. It will also lift your spirit!
Did you give it your all today while teaching? That was enough to fill each child’s brain with a load of information and prepare it for the next standard or concept. Each day, we can only do our best. If our best is coming in and doing small groups all day because we are too tired to stand, then make sure to have lots of engaging activities and centers planned. Sometimes you just can’t do it all! And that’s ok! You are enough!
Were you able to see your students demonstrate growth today? That was enough to insure that you are making a difference. Stand a little taller, teacher! Your students are successful because of YOU! No textbook taught them that! That wasn’t thanks to a great TPT product! No state mandate or documentation insured that! It was all you! You are enough to help meet the needs of your learners!
Everyday that your teacher feet hit the floor, be enough. Be enough for yourself, your family, and your job as an educator. You have a room full of little minds that are ready to be filled to the brim of knowledge that only you can provide. You are enough to give them hugs, band aids, pats on the back, and a simple wink. The love that you give them will find a way to trickle back to you. You are enough, Frantic Teacher. Don’t forget that!
Love a Frantic RTI Teacher,
